If you recently received a traffic ticket in California don’t feel isolated, yours is one of approximately 16 million of the citations issued in the state annually. For most of us, the initial instinct is to try and fight it ourselves but once we get over the shock of how expensive these tickets are in California, we tend to look for other alternatives. Of course, paying the fine and doing traffic school is the simplest form of confronting the situation. But what if you can’t do traffic school? Remember that you’re allowed traffic school only once every 18 months and there are certain types of infractions that don’t allow traffic school like speeding 26 miles or above the posted speed limit. Then there’s the trial by declaration, which gives us hope (and it’s free) but seldom works in your favor unless you have conclusive evidence that proves that you are right and the ticket issuer was incorrect, good luck with that.

Certainly you can hire a qualified traffic defense attorney which makes your position look a lot more promising but it will cost you. The expense can be justified depending on your circumstances, traffic school eligibility, points on your record, is your insurance going up substantially or is your license dangerously close to being suspended. If so, don’t hesitate, dial that number and retain that lawyer, he or she will probably be worth the cost. However, there’s one more option to consider… our friends at Phantom Alert. Using your GPS system or smartphone in conjunction with the Phantom Alert system you can avoid getting a ticket altogether. If you are “ticket prone” then this app (I guess we can call it an app) is for you. Research it and you will be convinced. Do we sound like a commercial? Maybe… would we rather have you call the best possible traffic attorney in the state? Of course. But we also want you to be aware of the alternatives and this is a good one.
